I'm trying to figure out a solution to a business problem that our organization has. We currently use Salesforce as our CRM system. Often times we will negotiate a contract for say 400 units with a customer. That contract is one contract and one price and is entered as one opportunity in Salesforce. However, after the contract is done the customer works with our supply chain to divide the order up into smaller quantities that get shipped to different sites. I'm sure this is a pretty common business practice.
The issue that this creates for us in SAP is currently we are setup with a 1:1 pid:sys architecture. We don't believe that we should break out the opportunities in Salesforce into smaller quantities. What's the best practice in dealing with this type of situation with our systems?
