Heuristics will not create a receipt while taking account of the PP/DS planning time fence.

only possible to plan new orders in the planning time fence manually.

The planning time fence is valid for both external procurement and in-house production.In the case of external procurement,

Use SAP_PP_002 as product heuristic in APO product master. Maintain PPDS horizon, planning time fence as per requirement.

New planned orders/Preqs created by a heuristic have their availability date on or after the planning time fence.

The "PP-Firmed" indicator is set if one of the firming indicators is set at header level or at a product receipt or if the order is within the planning time fence.

Requirements within the planning time fence can no longer be covered in time by an automatic planning anyway.

In infinite scheduling, reciepts created simultaneously at the end of the planning time fence.

If you want to avoid rescheduling orders within the planning time fence due to a reexplosion, you should use an infinite scheduling strategy during planning.For information on this subject, refer also to note 551124 'APO:Finite scheduling with the MRP heuristic (Documentation)'.

Also note The PP/DS planning time fence is considered during the SNP heuristic run.

Hello,

We want, in our SCM system, before starting a process chain, to kill all user sessions on all application servers by running a job. Our BW consultants created a job, as a step of their process chain, which kills these sessions. The problem is that user sessions are killed only for the users logged on the server on which the job runs so, as we have 5 application servers, user sessions are killed only for one out of 5 application servers.

I suggested to create this job with 5 steps, each step having set as running target server one of the application servers. The BW consultant said this is not possible in the process chain. Could you please suggest a way to run this job in order to kill the user sessions on all application servers?

I mention the fact that I am a SAP Basis Admin and have no knowledge on how process chain are working and how can be modified.

Hi Experts,

In one of my client there is a requirement of uploading documents ( like .pdf, .doc, .xls etc) in purchase order creation ( ME21N) . Present "Services for Object " option is not available in ME21N.

I have checked configuration steps for this facility in SPRO --> Cross- Application Components --> Document Management --> Control Data --> Maintain Screen for Object Link

Here Sap Object : EKPO and screen no : 248 was already assigned , and in Define Document types option also under KPR type EKPO & Screen no 248 already available.

But still I am not getting that "Services for Object" option  in ME21N.

Please let me know the step by step procedure for activating this option in ME21N.

An individual process chain can be directed to a specific server; this is an attribute of the process chain.  Your unhelpful BW consultants could create 5 small single step process chains, one for each server, and then call them locally within a single process chain; in parallel, or in series.

Hi Rupesh,

We do not want to create new PReq's even after the planning time fence. As i said in my earlier post, we use MRP Type 'P2' in ECC and the MRP was not creating new receipts even after the planning time fence, so basically the new requirements falling wihtin PTF should not be planned even after the PTF.

Is there any heuristic to handle such type of planning in APO either by SNP or PPDS.

Then you should maintain PPDS horizon = planning time fence. Suppose you have 3 weeks of planning time fence then you should also have PPDS horizon as 3 week. So that Heuristic will plan the receipt within the horizon.

Presently, we have in our company access to Dates like  Available to Promise (WADAT or ETDAT) material level and position level , WADAT-IST (Actual delivery) and Invoice Date but Goods REceipt Date @ Customer is missing . Hence,  I limited my comparision to actual delivery Date EX-Warehouse (WADAT-IST)

My actual objective was to find the service Level but I limited myself to Deleivery Reliabilty (How good we are in holding ourselves with Confirmed dates w.r.t Customer Requested Date and at the same time if it is Delivered in Reality (WADAT-IST) as the date confirmed (ATP DATE).

I found it how is our Delivery Relibaility in terms of confirming the dates position level  comapring it with actual delivery but I would like to compare it with Purchasing Reliabilty and Production REliabilties too and a use it ias a KPI Key Performance Indicator)

To reach to a decision of saying we have delays in delivering goods physically as there was a capacity constraint in production or Purchasing Department or in Shipping Department (The Raw material being late deliverd from supplier OR The finishing Date of Production order was delayed and etc.)

I want would like to compare it for the 3 departments a comparision weekly or monthly basis to report .

Please help me which fields are important to me in purchasing and Production like in SD  we have WADAT-Ist (which is actual Delivery ) and and I have VBEP-WADAT (confirmed Date)

In EKET , in purchasing i see SLFDT field and the EINDT but am not sure where to get the fields in purchasing for the actual delivery and at the same time in Production planned Date vs Actual finaishing Date on a material level and on a position level

Yes, but i would like to create receipts for the new requirments coming outside of the planning time fence (PTF). Let me explain with an example below:

Product Structure: Header product (Currently in ECC MRP Type: P1) and 3 BOM Components (Currently in ECC MRP Type: P2)

After CIF'ing all the materials to APO, we have the following dates in APO (giving just as an example)

Today's Date: 1st Feb, 2015

PP/DS PTF: 10th Feb, 2015 (10 Days)

PP/DS Horizon: 10th Feb, 2016 (1 year from PTF)

Scenario 1: If there is a new requirement coming on 5th Feb, 2015, i do not want the heuristic to plan/create new receipts (PReq's) even after the PTF. This is how currently it works with MRP Type 'P2' in ECC

Scenario 2: If there is a new requirement coming after PTF (for e.g. on 20th Feb, 2015), I want the heuristic to plan for the new receipts based on the requirements date. This is currently working with this above settings, so i do not have to worry about this Scenario 2.

Please let me know any other idea or work around for the Scenario 1 above. Basically all i want to see the heuristic is to ignore new requirements falling within PTF, but consider new requirements coming in after PTF.

Hello PK,

If you run SNP planning, SNP planned order will be created out side the PPDS horizon.  SNP planning will cover this demand out side SNP planning horizon.SNP does not create any orders within the SNP production horizon.So in you case the PP/DS horizon should be equal to the SNP production horizon will work for you.

If you run PPDS planning, No new orders will be created  because demand it is out of PPDS planning horizon if inside then you have planning time fence.

This is not fully solving my problem. I do not want to consider new requirements within PTF, but i do want to consider new requirements outside of the PTF.

Also i think changing SNP production horizon value, might impact other planning groups who are using these materials.

To limit the scope of planning to only PPDS Heuristic planning, what are the options for the scenario i had mentioned in my earlier message.

Hi, i finished masters in Logistics and supply chain management from a UK University. I learnt SAP MM during the course work. Well, I havent found any jobs in Uk after graduation.

Am currently living in India. Am looking for jobs in India.

But, so many questions running in my mind. What sort of jobs do i need to apply for? Do I need any certification in SAP though I did my masters??

Below is my suggestion-

• Based on current knowledge and degree try to get job in SCM. In 1st Job experience you will get idea about industry,requirement,business process,operation,how the business runs,logistics  etc.While doing this you can judge your interest whether you are really interested in operation,execution or in systems
• Try to join the company where SAP MM/SAP SCM module get used.Because of this you can earn hands on experience in SAP which may helpful to you in future.
• Inventing 3lakh Rs at this stage will not solve your purpose.
• While doing job learn more & more business process and co-relate with them with SAP system.
• After 2 or 3 years later  you turn around and think on same question I am sure,You are the only one who can answer better than anyone.
• With or without certification also you can have great career ahead.Certification will add value after some experience only not at this level.

I have couple of questions regarding the master data set up of WM.

1) I have a material with Storage section indicator as 009 and i want to move to a bin which has storage section as 004. This 004 is not maintained in the storage section search. Storage section check active is blank T331-PRBER field is blank. My question is will it allow to put the stocks in 004 storage section as it is not maintained in storage section search?

2) In MARM-UMREZ field do we have any limitation of the number? We have few materials currently with  360000 base units per pallet in legacy. Can we keep as it is or should we just keep 99999? In both cases will it have any impact on LHMG1 field?

You can influence the result by using BAdi /SAPAPO/RRP_PLANNING  Change the Planning Results with your custom logic for such planning time fence materials.

Methods,

• AFTER_NETTING -With this method, you can change the result of the net requirements calculation or replace the standard net requirements calculation with your own net requirements calculation.

Or

I usually use the Transaction MD09 To know the origin of a necessity, However , after a while this information disappears and can not establish the origin a purchase order or requisition

Please could you explain me, when are the pegged requirements broken? (For example with the  goods receipt), and if it is possible to obtain the origin of a necessity or the route from requirement to ERP element for a Purchase order o purchase requisition in the past?
